The following criminal incidents were compiled from Saint Paul and Mendota Heights police department reports and other sources between December 16-20.

Cochran Park goose sculpture recovered

A bronze goose that was reported stolen during the morning of December 19 from Cochran Park on Summit and Western avenues has been recovered. According to police, an employee at a metal recycling center called the next day to say someone came in with the statue, which was returned to a city Department of Parks and Recreation employee. It is one of four geese that surround Paul Manship’s famed 1926 sculpture “Indian Hunter and His Dog” that adorns the park’s fountain. As of that time, no arrests had been made. Anyone with information about who took the goose is asked to call 651-291-1111.

Highland Park

Theft—The catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 2000 block of Ford Parkway between 5:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, December 15.

   

—Vehicles were reported stolen at Sakana Sushi & Asian Bistro, 740 S. Cleveland Ave., on December 17, and the 2100 block of Scheffer Avenue on December 19.

Assault—Two males were reportedly shooting at each other at the Highway Motel, 2152 W. Seventh St., around 10:37 a.m. Friday, December 17. No injuries were reported.

Weapons—Police received multiple reports of gunfire on the 2400 block of Youngman Avenue around 11:38 p.m. Saturday, December 18.

Lexington-Hamline

Theft—A vehicle was reported stolen at the Speedway station, 399 N. Lexington Pkwy., around 5:30 p.m. Friday, December 17.

Assault—Victims said they were shot at by an unknown male while at the Speedway station, 399 N. Lexington Pkwy, around 1:46 a.m. Friday, December 17.

Macalester-Groveland

Robbery—A strong-arm robbery was reported on the 1200 block of Saint Clair Avenue around 10:10 a.m. Sunday, December 19.

Burglary—A home break-in was reported on the 2100 block of Stanford Avenue on December 17-18.

Theft—A vehicle was reported stolen on Warwick Street and Saint Clair Avenue around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, December 14. It was found abandoned the next day in Dayton’s Bluff.

—Catalytic converters were reported stolen from vehicles on the 1300 block of Grand Avenue on December 15-16, and the 2100 block of Wellesley on December 17.

Weapons—A 42-year-old man was arrested for felony possession of a firearm and ammunition by an ineligible person after he left an apartment holding a handgun around 1:09 a.m. Monday, December 20, on the 1900 block of Grand Avenue.

Mendota Heights

Theft—Thefts from vehicles were reported on the 2300 block of Lexington Avenue on December 10, the 700 block of Evergreen Knolls on December 12, and the 1100 block of Centre Pointe Circle and the 1900 block of Crown Point Drive on December 14.

—The catalytic converters were reported stolen from work trucks on the 2500 block of Northland Drive at 12:43 p.m. Monday, December 13.

Merriam Park

Burglary—A car was stolen from a garage on the 1900 block of Selby Avenue around 9:10 a.m. Saturday, December 18.

Theft—A 32-year-old man was arrested while in a stolen vehicle on the 2000 block of Roblyn Avenue around 12:48 p.m. Wednesday, December 15.

—Vehicles were reported stolen on the 1900 block of Merriam Lane on December 15-16, and the 1800 and 2100 blocks of Marshall Avenue on December 19.

Assault—An aggravated assault with a gun was reported on Snelling and University avenues around 11:40 a.m. Friday, December 17. A man said a suspect aggressively followed his vehicle from the Quality Inn, 1964 University. When both vehicles came to a stop in traffic, the suspect got out and pointed a gun at him. The victim said he was under such duress that he struck three other vehicles as he fled from the suspect. No injuries were reported.

—A man was reportedly assaulted on the 1700 block of University Avenue around 2:32 a.m. Saturday, December 18.

—A male was arrested following a domestic assault involving strangulation that was reported on the 2100 block of Summit Avenue around 6 a.m. Sunday, December 19.

Weapons—Two spent shell casings were recovered and a vehicle was caught on video speeding from the scene on the 300 block of Beacon Avenue around 7 p.m. Thursday, December 16.

Miscellaneous—Felony damage to property was reported at a unit at the Quality Inn, 1964 University Ave., between 2:28-3:39 p.m. Sunday, December 19.

Snelling-Hamline

Assault—A suspect with a knife assaulted an employee at Cub Foods, 1440 University Ave., around 4 p.m. Thursday, December 16. The victim sustained minor injuries. The suspect was gone upon police arrival.

Summit Hill

Theft—The catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on Grand Avenue and Milton Street between 11-11:50 p.m. Friday, December 10.

—A heating and cooling coil was reported stolen from the Linwood Community Center, 860 Saint Clair Ave., around 9:09 a.m. Wednesday, December 15.

—A vehicle was stolen from Grand Avenue and Saint Albans Street between 7:24-9:08 p.m. Wednesday, December 15.

—A woman reported being pick-pocketed at Victoria Crossing South Mall, 850 Grand Ave., around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 15.

—A 45-year-old man was arrested for felony theft of packages after he was found sleeping in the storage area of an apartment on the 900 block of Grand Avenue around 2:53 p.m. Thursday, December 16.

Summit-University

Burglary—An apartment was burglarized on the 200 block of Marshall Avenue around 2:44 p.m. Friday, December 17.

Theft—Catalytic converters were reported stolen from vehicles on the 200 block of Kent Street on December 13-14, the 1000 block of Marshall Avenue on December 14, and the 800 block of Laurel Avenue on December 17.

Miscellaneous—A 22-year-old man was cited with careless driving after striking a pedestrian on Lexington Parkway and Summit Avenue around 4:44 p.m. Wednesday, December 15. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with head injuries.

West End

Burglary—A burglary was reported at the Associated Healthcare Credit Union in the Fort Road Medical Center building, 360 Sherman St., around 3:31 p.m. Wednesday, December 15. A break-in also was reported at Child Neurology Solutions in the same building between 10:34 a.m.-12:33 p.m. the next day.

Theft—An enclosed trailer was reported stolen on the 300 block of Randolph Avenue between 10:45-11:11 a.m. Wednesday, December 15.

—Vehicles were reported stolen on the 1000 block of Randolph Avenue on December 16, and the 200 block of Grand Avenue on December 17.

—The catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 1100 block of Pleasant Avenue during the evening of December 16-17.

Assault—Police responded to a disturbance and discovered members of a large crowd screaming at each other at the Sherman Forbes Apartments, 329 Sherman St., around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 15. A 29-year-old woman was arrested for assault at the scene after she was observed waiving a knife and threatening another person.

—A man said he was knocked unconscious by a male suspect who sucker punched him after arguing over who was going to sit on the couch during a movie being played at Freedom House, 296 W. Seventh St., around 4:03 p.m. Saturday, December 18. The victim was treated at the hospital for minor injuries. The suspect was no longer at the day shelter when officers arrived.

Sex crime—A rape was reported on the 200 block of West Seventh Street at 4:27 p.m. Monday, December 6.
