The following criminal incidents were compiled from Saint Paul and Mendota Heights police department reports and other sources gathered between March 19-21.

Highland Park

Theft—Catalytic converters were reported stolen from vehicles on the 800 block of South Cleveland Avenue on March 17, and the 1300 block of Sumner Street on March 19.

—Scratch-office tickets were reported stolen at Speedway, 1580 Ford Pkwy., around 9:56 p.m. Friday, March 18.

—A 29-year-old man was arrested for felony auto theft and drug possession, along with reckless driving and DUI, on Race Street and Alaska Avenue around 9:46 p.m. Sunday, March 20.

Weapons—Gunfire was reported among multiple vehicles on Ford Parkway and Fairview Avenue around 4:55 p.m. Friday, March 18.

Miscellaneous—A 53-year-old man was arrested for trespassing after he refused to leave an apartment on the 1900 block of Ford Pkwy. around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19.


Assault—A man was reportedly assaulted by another man after getting into an argument playing basketball at LA Fitness, 1370 University Ave., around 6:03 p.m. Sunday, March 20. The two men were separated and left the scene.

Weapons—Multiple reports of gunfire were received near University Avenue and Griggs Street around 1:29 a.m. Saturday, March 19.


Robbery—A carjacking was reported on the 1500 block of Grand Avenue around 6:18 p.m. Tuesday, March 8.

Theft—Catalytic converters were reported stolen from vehicles on the 1400 and 2000 blocks of Grand Avenue on March 17-18, the 1700 block of Stanford Avenue on March 17-18, and the 1200 block of Sargent Avenue on March 18.

Miscellaneous—Felony damage to property was reported on the 1700 block of Juliet Avenue during the evening of March 17-18.

Merriam Park

Theft—Catalytic converters were reported stolen from vehicles on Fry Street and Dayton Avenue on March 18, on Carroll and Cleveland avenues on March 19-20,

Sex crime—A 40-year-old man was arrested for indecent exposure after police received a report of a male masturbating in front of residences at Episcopal Homes, 1860 University Ave., around 5:44 p.m. Friday, March 18.

Miscellaneous—A 59-year-old man was arrested for DWI after he reportedly struck a parked car and pushed it into two other parked cars on the 1800 block of Saint Anthony Avenue around 10:28 p.m. Sunday, March 20. The suspect fled the area on foot and was found on the side of I-94.


Sex crime—A 45-year-old woman was arrested on a sex offender registration violation after police responded to a complaint of disorderly conduct at the Midway Cub Foods around 5:40 a.m. Saturday, March 19.

Miscellaneous—A 45-year-old man was arrested for criminal damage to property after police received a report of a male trying to break into a residence on the 1500 block of Laurel Avenue around 2:55 a.m. Saturday, March 19.

Summit Hill

Theft—A woman said she was having lunch when a suspect in the booth behind her reached around and stole her wallet around 1:19 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the India House, 758 Grand Ave.


Theft—Catalytic converters were reported stolen from vehicles on the 900 block of Hague Avenue on March 18, and on Victoria Street and Ashland Avenue on March 18.

—A vehicle was reported stolen on the 800 block of Portland Avenue on March 20,

Arson—A suspicious fire was reported at Catholic Charities Saint Christopher Place, 286 Marshall Ave., around 9:40 p.m. Friday, March 18.

Assault—A man was shot in the chest during an assault in an apartment on the 700 block of Marshall Avenue around 12:44 a.m. Sunday, March 20. He was taken to Regions Hospital.

Weapons—Callers reported hearing up to 10 gunshots in the area of Holly Avenue and Avon Street around 11:11 p.m. Saturday, March 19.

West End

Assault—A 27-year-old man was arrested for aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a gun by an ineligible after police responded to a call that a man had punched a woman in the face and pointed a gun at her on Sherman and West Seventh streets around 1:25 a.m. Saturday, March 19.

—Three emergency room staff were reportedly assaulted at United Hospital around 10 p.m. Saturday, March 19.

Miscellaneous—A 42-year-old man was arrested for felony drug possession after an officer saw him cut a lock and ride away on a bicycle near Kellogg Boulevard and West Seventh Street around 8:54 p.m. Friday, March 18.
