The following criminal incidents were compiled from Saint Paul and Mendota Heights police department reports and other sources gathered between January 20-23.

Highland Park

Theft—The catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 1800 block of Rome Avenue on January 17.

—A vehicle was reported stolen on the 2200 block of Stewart Avenue on January 22.

Weapons—Shell casings and damaged property were located after police responded to a report of shots fired near Highland Pointe, 1800 Graham Ave., around 8:35 p.m. Sunday, January 22.

Macalester-Groveland

Theft—Vehicles were reported stolen on the 2200 block of Summit Avenue and the 400 block of Mount Curve Boulevard on January 20, and from the Macalester College campus on January 22.

Mendota Heights

Theft—Items stolen from a vehicle were returned to their owner after police found them abandoned near Diane and Victoria roads around 3:36 a.m. Wednesday, January 18.

Merriam Park

Theft—Vehicles were reported stolen on the 1800 block of Selby Avenue on January 20, and the 300 block of North Cleveland Avenue on January 21.

Miscellaneous—Felony damage to property was reported on the 1900 block of Marshall Avenue during the evening of January 19-20.

Summit-University

Shooting—Exavir Dwayne Binford, 26, of Saint Paul was charged in Ramsey County District Court on January 20 with attempted murder of a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the head around 4:12 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, in the parking lot of the Jimmy Lee Recreation Center, 270 N. Lexington Pkwy. The teen was transported to Regions Hospital and was listed in critical condition. Binford, who was a city recreation.center employee, was later arrested at his home in East Saint Paul. A handgun was recovered. According to the complaint, the incident took place after Binford reportedly closed the rec center because of a large fight there among Central High School girls. He became upset when a girl let a male relative back inside and cursed at her. The victim and another teen joined the argument and began fighting with Binford. He then pulled out a gun and fired at them.

Theft—The catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 400 block of Marshall Avenue on January 19.

—Vehicles were reported stolen on the 900 block of Concordia Avenue and the 300 block of Selby Avenue on January 21.
