Home Improvement Workshop Day—The Highland and Macalester-Groveland district councils are hosting a day of home improvement workshops from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Cretin-Derham Hall, 550 S. Albert St. Some of the workshop topics include solar panels, aging in place, window restoration, creating an accessible home and electric vehicle charging solutions. Learn more at macgrove.org/hiwd.
Board openings—The Highland District Council is seeking candidates for its board of directors. Up for election from March 29-April 3 are one representative each from grids 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 (see map at highlanddistrictcouncil.org/hdc), and two at-large representatives. Board info sessions—Meetings for prospective board members will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the Mezz in the new Highland Bridge Lunds & Byerlys, and at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 20, via Zoom (the link is posted on the website). Attendees will be able to meet current representatives and learn about the HDC, the role of board members and the election process.
Annual meeting—The HDC will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, March 29, at Summit Brewing, 910 Montreal Circle. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m. Attendees can learn about projects in the neighborhood and meet candidates running for the board. Rustic Chef food truck will have food available for purchase. The agenda will be posted soon on the HDC website. The meeting will also be streamed live on the HDC’s Facebook page at facebook.com/HighlandDistrictCouncil.

Century building plaques—If your home or commercial building is nearing 100 years old, the Macalester-Groveland Community Council is offering engraved plaques to identify it. Any property that will be at least 100 years old by 2028 is eligible. Order and pay at macgrove.org/100years by March 31.
Annual meeting and elections—The Macalester-Groveland Community Council will host a virtual annual meeting and board elections on Thursday, April 20. All those who live, work, learn or play in the neighborhood are invited to participate.
